Service Description
No scripts. No safety nets. Just 18 hours of focused longform improv training, 2 public showcases, and 1 ensemble of young creators building stories from the ground up. This camp is for teens ready to move beyond theatre games and into real longform storytelling. Each 3-hour session gives students the time to build full improvised worlds, rich characters, strong relationships, and stories that actually go somewhere. Students will train through Instant Theatre’s 5 Ws curriculum: Who — grounded characters with clear points of view Where — vivid environments that shape the scene What — the action, relationship, and game of the moment Why — emotional stakes, motivation, and story purpose Wow — the surprise, pattern, theatricality, or memorable turn that brings the scene to life Students will learn to: • Build longform stories from scratch • Listen deeply and support bold choices • Create strong characters and relationships • Identify protagonists, patterns, and callbacks • Perform with confidence in front of an audience This is not a passive summer activity. Students are treated as young artists developing a real craft, with professional guidance from Instant Theatre faculty and 2 public showcase opportunities to practice, perform, and grow.
