Service Description

Level 2 is for improvisers who know the basics and want their scenes to actually work every time, not just on lucky nights. You get 18 hours of dedicated longform training this term. 18 hours at this level is enough to move you out of "I kind of get it" and into "I can repeat this on purpose" when it comes to scene work and show structure. Over 6 weeks of 3 hour classes you will deepen your longform skills and make your work stage ready. We continue using the 5Ws while adding more precision: Who – clearer points of view, status, and emotional logic. Where – environments that can be revisited and expanded. What – game of the scene, the unusual thing you can repeat and heighten. Why – relationships and stakes that grow across the set. Wow – timely tilts and moves that elevate the show instead of derailing it. You will learn to: •Start scenes with strong first 30 seconds that clearly set Who, Where, and What. •Find and play game of the scene and heighten it in a clean pattern. •Use basic edits like sweeps, tag outs, and walk ons. •Play group games and ensemble patterns without freezing. •Perform structured longform sets that feel like complete pieces. This Level 2 intensive includes a final showcase so you can test your skills in front of an audience and get focused notes. This course is ideal if you have completed Level 1 or similar training, or are returning after a long break from improvisational theatre. Format: 6 weeks, 1 class per week, 3 hours per class. Dates: Tuesdays 7:00pm-10:00pm; July 7th till August 18th (skips August 4th) Performance: 1 final showcase. Prerequisite: Level 1 or equivalent beginner improv experience. Instructor: Annie Rilkoff (read more about Annie on our Instructor's page). Investment: To maintain accessibility, we offer a 2-part payment plan: $149.50 + tax (initial deposit) and $149.50 + tax (due after Week 5).
