Service Description

In the Masters Program, an improv troupe will work with an experienced coach to develop and refine their own unique long-form format. Participants will receive expert guidance on narrative structure, group dynamics, and custom rehearsal planning. Beyond the creative process, the course also covers essential production skills—such as working with venues, marketing, and audience engagement—giving your troupe the tools to stage a polished, original show. Placement requires a group interview. Each troupe member must register, after which an interview will be scheduled. If the troupe is not approved, a full refund will be issued. In this course, you’ll learn: -Design a unique long-form format: learn to conceptualize, structure, and refine a long-form format that reflects your troupe’s unique style and personality. -Strengthen team Dynamics: build trust, improve communication, and foster a cohesive environment for seamless group collaboration. -Master show production: gain practical expertise in planning, scheduling, and managing technical elements like lighting and sound to produce polished performances. -Grow Your Audience: explore proven strategies for promoting your show, connecting with your target audience, and building a dedicated fan base. Course fee includes a student's pass to all Instant Theatre produced shows for the term. Class sign up ends April 24th 2025. Sunday Cohort will be taught by Jordan Wesley (he/him), an improviser who has been performing and teaching in Vancouver for fifteen years. He began while studying at UBC with UBCimprov, and continued training and performing with Vancouver Theatre Sports League, Instant Theatre Company and Blind Tiger Comedy. He currently performs regularly with Vancouver’s Grad School Improv. Jordan has coached UBCimprov and CIG, as well as directing several shows a year with Grad School Improv. Accessibility at Little Mountain Gallery varies depending on the specific theatre space in use. Some spaces are fully wheelchair accessible, while others have limited access due to structural constraints. If you have accessibility needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us prior to booking so we can ensure the selected space meets your requirements.
