Service Description

This course is for improvisers who are comfortable with the basics and ready to take the leap into long form improvisational theatre. You’ll explore the core mechanics of long form through grounded scene work, bold character choices, and ensemble-based storytelling. Over the term, students will be placed into troupes of 7–10, offering a consistent group environment to collaborate, experiment, and grow together. Through repetition, real-time coaching, and supportive feedback, you’ll sharpen your instincts, build trust with your scene partners, and begin connecting individual moments into rich, multi-beat narratives. Whether you're transitioning from short form or diving deeper into long form fundamentals, this course will give you the tools and confidence to perform with clarity and purpose. What You’ll Learn: Core Long Form Techniques: Explore foundational formats and structures of long form improv. Character Creation & Commitment: Develop nuanced, evolving characters that sustain throughout extended scenes. Performance Versatility: Build range and confidence by practicing a variety of long form styles and ensemble approaches. Bonus: Enrolment includes a free student pass to all Instant Theatre productions during the course term. Meet Your Instructor: Tanaz Roudgar (she/they) is a queer Iranian actor, writer, filmmaker with professional training from Vancouver Film School, SFU and other amazing mentors. Her creations manifest as movement art, poetry, screenwriting, and playwriting. She is based in Vancouver BC, stolen lands of Coast salish peoples. She is commited to build a relationship with and honour and uplift the voices of the lands and coast salish peoples as a direct response to colonialism. Accessibility: Little Mountain Gallery has varying levels of accessibility depending on the theatre space in use. Some areas are fully wheelchair accessible, while others may have limited access due to structural constraints. If you have accessibility needs, please contact us before registering so we can ensure your experience is fully supported. We’re committed to making every class welcoming and inclusive.
