Discover the foundations of improvisational theatre in this welcoming, high-energy course designed for absolute beginners. Through a series of fun and supportive exercises, you’ll explore the core principles of improv: listening, collaboration, and creative spontaneity. Learn to silence your inner critic, trust your instincts, and build scenes with confidence—all while connecting with a vibrant community of fellow improvisers. What You’ll Learn: -Trusting Your Impulses: Embrace spontaneity and release self-judgment. -Storytelling: Build compelling, imaginative narratives from scratch. -Character Creation: Bring vibrant, engaging characters to life. -Performance Skills: Explore stage presence, voice, and delivery. -Ensemble Collaboration: Develop strong communication and teamwork. -Physical Expression: Use your body to enhance storytelling and connection. Bonus: Enrolment includes a free student pass to all Instant Theatre productions during the course term. Meet Your Instructor: Montana (he/him) is based in Vancouver, is an improviser with a background in theatre, puppetry, and storytelling. He trained in improv at two notable studios and studied under several prominent instructors. Montana has been a cast member in various shows, showcasing his versatile improvisational skills. Besides performing, he also teaches improv, sharing his extensive experience and diverse training with new students. His dynamic presence makes him a significant figure in the Vancouver improv scene. Montana is the Education Director of Instant Theatre. Accessibility: Little Mountain Gallery has varying levels of accessibility depending on the theatre space in use.
