Service Description

Characters are the engine of long-form improv. In this focused skill-builder, you’ll learn how to create nuanced, believable characters from the ground up, then make them playable and consistent under pressure. Using Instant Theatre’s story-first approach, you’ll sharpen your “WHO” choices through clear points of view, strong relationships, and physical specificity that reads from the back row. Expect practical drills that turn vague ideas into grounded personas you can return to again and again. You’ll work on: -Building characters with clear point of view, needs, and contradictions -Physicality that defines status, energy, and intention -Making character choices that generate story (not just jokes) -Staying consistent while still evolving moment-to-moment Accessibility in the space: The KW Atrium Studio is located next to the Woodwards Atrium space situated between the entrances of London Drugs and Nesters Market. The Atrium Studio is a 22’ X 30’ studio with glass walls, tons of natural light, high ceilings, and an accessible public washroom. The Studio has a sprung dance floor covered by a seamless dark grey Harlequin Cascade vinyl floor.
