Service Description

This advanced program is for improvisers ready to move beyond existing formats and create something entirely their own. With guidance from an experienced coach, each troupe will design, refine, and debut an original long-form improv format. Through rehearsals, participants will shape compelling narratives, strengthen ensemble dynamics, and build rehearsal structures that support their vision. Alongside creative development, they’ll gain hands-on production experience—learning to work with venues, market a show, and engage audiences. By the end, each troupe will have the tools, confidence, and production know-how to launch their own improv show. Groups of 7–10 performers will present their new format in a fully dedicated class showcase with Instant Theatre. Ideal for improvisers eager to expand their artistry by creating and producing something original. What You’ll Learn: -Original Format Creation: Design and refine a unique long-form format that reflects your troupe’s style. -Ensemble Development: Strengthen group dynamics, communication, and trust. -Production Skills: Plan, schedule, and manage the technical side of a show. -Marketing & Engagement: Promote effectively and build a loyal audience. -Performance Readiness: Deliver a polished, professional-quality show. Bonus: Enrolment includes a free student pass to all Instant Theatre productions during the course term. Meet Your Instructor: Ivy Marie Clementine Padmos (she/they) is a queer multidisciplinary artisté hailing from the flattened lands of Calgary Alberta. Plagued with years of improv experience, she one day woke up in a cold sweat and having broken through her feverish 'Yes And-ing', and faithfully pledged to put all of this knowledge to somewhat good use. Ivy loves to endow circumstances, mime windows, and frequently Lampoon's the Film Noir Genre with tasteless and wonderful homages to the likes of Citizen Kane. Read more about Ivy on our Instructor's page! Accessibility: Little Mountain Gallery has varying levels of accessibility depending on the theatre space in use. Some areas are fully wheelchair accessible, while others may have limited access due to structural constraints. If you have accessibility needs, please contact us before registering so we can ensure your experience is fully supported. We’re committed to making every class welcoming and inclusive.
