Take your improv to the next level with Instant Theatre’s musical improvisational theatre program! The focus of this course is to help students apply their improvisational abilities towards singing and feel more confident performing musical improv on stage. Students will learn basic song structures and be able to sing a full song using a suggestion both on their own and in a group. Participants will be placed in troupes of 6–9 performers and will have the opportunity to showcase their work in "Canon Fire: Improvised Musical Improvised Show," co-produced by Instant Theatre and the Vancouver Musical Improv Society. What You’ll Learn: -Musical Analysis: Identify and perform a verse, chorus, and bridge in a typical song structure -Musical performance skills: Cleanly share verses with other performers, support and sing along with other performers’ choruses, lead and follow along and with basic choreography enhancing the songs, transition from scenes into songs, and end songs concisely -Growth: personalized feedback to refine performance and boost confidence -Versatility: apply musical improv to a range of styles and long form improvisational theatre Bonus: Enrolment includes a free student pass to all Instant Theatre productions during the course term.
