Service Description
This course is designed for improvisers who are serious about long form and ready to showcase their craft. Through in-depth scene work, rich character development, and exploration of diverse formats, students will refine their technique and performance presence in front of audiences. Participants will be placed in troupes of 6–10 performers and will have the opportunity to showcase their work in 2 fully produced student showcases by Instant Theatre during the term. Whether you're working toward performing regularly or simply want to sharpen your long form artistry, this conservatory provides the structure, challenge, and support to take your improv to the next level. What You’ll Learn: -Advanced Long Form Techniques: Deepen your understanding of long form structures, pacing, and ensemble flow. -Complex Character Work: Build nuanced, fully realized characters that evolve across scenes and formats. -Performance Confidence & Range: Expand your versatility by performing in two live showcases across a variety of styles and structures. Bonus: Enrolment includes a free student pass to all Instant Theatre productions during the course term. Meet Your Instructor: Bryan Clark (he/him), a proud Manitoban, began his improv journey on February 6, 2016. Since that transformative day, he has trained extensively across Vancouver and at renowned institutions such as The Annoyance, The Pack, UCB, Second City, iO, and BATS. Bryan is a member of the improv ensemble Embezzlement and frequently performs with Instant Theatre, as well as in other shows throughout the city. Accessibility: Little Mountain Gallery has varying levels of accessibility depending on the theatre space in use. Some areas are fully wheelchair accessible, while others may have limited access due to structural constraints.
