Term 3 Sunday Foundations

Service Description

Foundations connects people to the core skills of improvisational theatre. Students will refresh and learn the key principles of improv including: listening, collaboration, and creation. Through a variety of games, students will learn how to get out of their head and get comfortable creating characters and scenes in preparation for long form improv. In this course, you'll learn: -Trusting your impulses: embrace spontaneity and let go of self-judgment. -Storytelling skills: craft compelling narratives that captivate your audience. -Creating engaging characters: bring unique, dynamic personalities to life. -Performance techniques: master the essentials of staging and delivering a performance. -Team communication: collaborate seamlessly with others to build shared stories. -Expressive movement: use your body to enhance storytelling and connect with your audience. Course fee includes a student's pass to all Instant Theatre produced shows for the term. Class sign up ends April 24th 2025. Sunday Foundations will be taught by Tanaz Roudgar (she/they), who is a queer Iranian actor, writer, filmmaker with professional training from Vancouver Film School, SFU and other amazing mentors. Her creations manifest as movement art, poetry, screenwriting, and playwriting. She is based in Vancouver BC, stolen lands of Coast salish peoples. She is commited to build a relationship with and honour and uplift the voices of the lands and coast salish peoples as a direct response to colonialism. Her work is centred around somatic awareness, activism, and play. As a director and instructor she works from a collaborative, non hierarchical and trauma informed lens. She is committed to bringing her diverse experience as a queer BIPOC immigrant to the process, dismantling systems of oppression like a warrior Accessibility in the space: Accessibility at Little Mountain Gallery depends on the specific theatre space in use.
